Days after the anniversary of the late Tupac Shakur’s birthday the Library of Congress honors the work of the famed rapper and activist. “Dear Mama” a single released in 1995 is a song dedicated to the rapper’s own mother as well as all mothers “struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty, and the face of indifference.”
Every year some 25 pieces are nominated to be included in the Library Of Congress’ National Recording Registry. There is a panel of experts as well as members of the general public that are allowed to weigh in. Being added to the National Recording Registry is an esteemed honor granted to only two other rap acts. How dope is that?!?
